Camp Chateaugay, a premier co-ed sleep-away camp for children ages 7-17, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ranch / Horseback Riding Director for our equestrian program. This full-time, residential position spans from early June to mid August 2026, offering the opportunity to lead a vibrant English-style riding program at our working ranch in an extraordinary Adirondack Mountain setting.

As Ranch Director, you'll oversee a team of three skilled English-style riding counselors / ranch hands, ensuring both excellent camper instruction and proper daily ranch operations. You'll guide approximately 40 eager campers of varying skill levels, from beginners to advanced - including those capable of jumping small courses, while managing staff schedules and professional development.
Responsibilities:
Camper Instruction: Teaching the fundamentals of grooming, tacking, and stable management. As well as instructing riders in walk, trot, canter, and introductory jumping techniques Designing engaging activities including trail rides and organizing special events performances and potential field trips to the Lake Placid Horse Show. Plus overseeing our extensive riding option (allowing campers multiple sessions weekly) that includes managing the stable management program for dedicated horse enthusiasts
Staff & Ranch Management: Supervising and mentoring counselors / ranch hands. Coordinating daily ranch operations and maintenance, ensuring the safety and well-being of all horses. Also maintaining equipment and facility standards and developing curriculum & program structure with some creative freedom
