We are small hunter/jumper focused show barn located in Hunterdon County, NJ with winters spent in Wellington, FL. Our farm is dedicated to providing exceptional care for our horses and offering a safe, clean and supportive environment for our clients. We are looking to add an Assistant Barn Manager to our team to help with the daily care and operations of the business while we are at home and on the road at shows.

Position Summary: The Assistant Barn Manager supports the daily operations of the barn and ensures the well-being of all horses. This role involves hands-on horse care, staff coordination, and facility upkeep. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where animal care and safety are top priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Barn Manager with daily operations, including feeding, turnout, stall cleaning, and grooming.
  • Monitor horse health and behavior; communicate concerns promptly.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and first aid as directed.
  • Oversee barn staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the barn, pastures, and equipment.
  • Assist with record keeping (feeding charts, medical logs, training schedules).
  • Help with daily exercise of the horses for the right candidate.
  • Step into the Barn Manager’s role when they are off-site.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a professional equine facility required.
  • Strong horse handling skills and knowledge of equine care.
  • Ability to lead by example and work well with a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and handle the demands of barn work.
  • Basic knowledge of equine first aid preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Requirements

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Full-time position; weekend and holiday availability required.
  • Competitive pay based on experience; housing may be available.
