This entry-level working management position is uniquely positioned for an individual wanting a career in the equine industry. The assistant manager is responsible for happily motivating a small, diverse team and overseeing the daily care and enrichment of equine residents as well as actively participating in a variety of horse care and barn chores. Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred and the candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate. The ideal candidate will be high energy, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be eager to work a full and robust day.
This is a boots-on-the-ground position that requires the candidate to be physically fit, possess excellent time management skills, and have self-imposed personal standards of excellence. Candidates must be of impeccable character, possess solid equine handling experience (strong intermediate to advanced), and have a hunger to constantly develop themselves and foster growth in others. The program requires all team members to be respectful, positive, and committed to a healthy and collaborative work environment. Because dependability is critical, the candidate must have reliable transportation and live within a 30-minute commute (Location: Chino Hills, CA).
Duties include:
- Role modeling culture, values, & Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
- Organizing/assigning daily work
- Coaching team members on safety, standards, & handling
- Assisting with vet & farrier appointments
- Providing general first aid
- Overseeing/assisting with turnout rotations
- Participating in daily chores (waterers & barn cleanliness)
- Preparing and delivering specialized feed buckets
- Providing oral medication
- Grooming and practicing excellent hoof care
