This is a great position for anyone that loves draft horses. We are only able to hire people who are legally able to work in the US without a visa.
**Role Overview - ** The Draft Horse Driver/Teamster is responsible for driving the horse-drawn covered wagon, caring for our herd of draft horses, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for guests. This is a hands-on, outdoor, physically active job that blends horsemanship, guest interaction, and the tradition of horse-drawn touring.
You’ll work closely with the Covered Wagon Guide and help deliver one of Black Diamond’s signature experiences.
**Primary Responsibilities - ** Horse Care & Preparation Teamsters play a critical role in the daily care and well-being of our draft horses. Duties include:
Feeding, watering, grooming, and general horse care
Maintaining the living environment and monitoring horse health
Grooming and preparing horses before tours
Harnessing and hitching the team safely and properly before every tour
Unhitching, unharnessing, and performing post-tour care after each tour
*Driving & Guest Safety - * As the driver, you are responsible for: Safely operating the horse-drawn wagon for the entire tour
Monitoring horse behavior and maintaining control of the team throughout the tour
Keeping guests safe, comfortable, and secure during all parts of the ride
Working closely with the Covered Wagon Guide to deliver a smooth, enjoyable tour
Staying calm and confident in changing weather or trail conditions
**Ideal Candidate Traits - ** We look for individuals who are:
Experienced with horses, or very eager and confident to learn draft horse handling
Calm, patient, and attentive around large animals
Naturally safety-focused
Comfortable outdoors for long periods
Good communicators and friendly with guests
Reliable, responsible, and capable of working independently or as a team
Requirements
Ability to remain positive in stressful situation lift and carry 50 lbs required Able to work in all weather and on your feet all day. Professional & clean appearance required Previous experience or education in performing arts strongly preferred Excellent Customer Service Skills Safe at all times

We have single $15 per day and double rooms for $10 per day and that includes all utilities and most supplies as well as basic food such as soups, pasta, canned goods, mac n cheese, bread, tuna, peanut butter and jelly, oranges, apples, things of that nature. It is plenty of food but not fancy. We also offer places to park campers or RV's and that is $5 per day or we have smaller travel trailers for rent. Access to nice kitchens & laundry is available.

You also can train in other positions. The trails are fantastic, the view is unbeatable, and you get to work with great people in the Alaskan Wilderness! Wild animal sightings are a regular, the midnight sun and northern lights is something everyone should get the chance to experience.
