Role Overview Covered Wagon Guides help create one of our most memorable guest experiences. This job blends hands-on horse care, energetic storytelling, and front-facing hospitality. You’ll prepare draft horses for the tour, guide guests on a scenic wagon ride, serve a hearty meal at our pavilion, and engage guests with continuous narration and storytelling for nearly two hours total. If you love being around people, enjoy performing or storytelling, and want to work closely with beautiful draft horses, this position is a perfect fit.

Pre-Tour Horse Duties (with the Teamster) Before each tour, the Covered Wagon Guide works side-by-side with the Teamster to prepare the horses. This includes: -Brushing and grooming them -Picking out their hooves -Getting them into their gear -Helping hitch them to the wagon

Once the team is safely hitched and ready, the guide walks down to the starting point to greet arriving guests.

During the Tour – Storytelling & Guest Engagement This role requires one full hour of engaging, non-stop narration on the outbound journey. The guide sets the tone for the experience with storytelling, humor, facts, and conversation.

Guides must be very outgoing, personable, and comfortable speaking loudly and clearly for extended periods. Topics may include: -Local wildlife (moose, caribou, birds, etc.) -Denali area flora and natural features -Geography & geology of the Healy corridor and surrounding area -Alaska culture & history

This position is perfect for someone who naturally enjoys entertaining a group.

Meal Service at the Pavilion Once the wagon reaches the pavilion, the guide helps: -Assist with serving a hearty, camp-style meal -Interact with guests as they dine -Maintain a friendly, welcoming atmosphere -Help ensure guests are well-fed, comfortable, and having a great time

We have an employee housing facility that is walking distance to work. It is set back away from the daily operation so you have an area that is private from the hustle and bustle of the business. Our facility consists of 14 mobile homes that we rent each room for $15 per day per person for a single room and $10 per day for a shared room with your own twin bed and includes all utilities and most supplies. These are single and double rooms That 1 to 2 person stays in. There are 2 to 10 people per mobile home and each are set up differently.

WHAT WE DO: We have been in business since 1995 and continue to grow and improve our operations each season. We have a fantastic place located 10 miles from the Denali National Park entrance. We have a very unique and fun business and are looking for adventurous, motivated people to join our team. We hire approximately 90 people each summer. We have a horse-drawn Covered wagon ride tour where you drive the team to our awesome remote pavillion where an outdoor feast is served. We also run a great restaurant, a golf course, petting zoo, & guided ATV tours. We have a very exciting business with a great working environment! Our Teamster position is a fun outdoor position! You also can train in other positions. The trails are fantastic, the view is unbeatable, and you get to work with great people in the Alaskan Wilderness! Wild animal sightings are a regular, the midnight sun and northern lights is something everyone should get the chance to experience.
