This role is designed for a rider who is serious about their development and committed to producing horses correctly. The right individual is motivated by the opportunity to work multiple horses daily and understands that effective training extends far beyond riding. It requires feel, timing, discipline, and a consistent, thoughtful approach. Daily responsibilities include both riding and groundwork.

This is not a position for someone looking to simply spend time in the saddle, but for someone who takes pride in developing horses through correct, consistent work over time.

We are seeking a rider who values a multidiscipline approach and understands that correct flatwork is the foundation of all successful training. Jumping is incorporated as part of a well-rounded program. Groundwork and lunging are essential components and will be taught, with the expectation they are applied consistently.

Horse welfare is central to the program. The ideal candidate will maintain a calm, organized, low-stress environment while upholding clear standards of structure and accountability. The focus is on doing things correctly, not quickly.

This position includes a mandatory training period of one to six months depending on experience and is intended for someone who values continued growth. This is not suitable for someone who considers themselves finished in their education.

We are seeking a long-term individual interested in growing within a structured program. Showing is a required part of the role as the position progresses.

Compensation is based on experience. Commission on horse sales is offered. Housing may be available, and board for one horse can be negotiated.

I've worked at this farm for a while now and am shocked at how much I've already learned. If you are looking for a place with an opportunity to expand your experience working with horses on a daily basis, both in hand as well as riding, then you'll really enjoy a position here! The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and between lessoning with her and participating in the monthly clinics, this is an amazing opportunity for a serious equestrian. I am so grateful to have found Folklore Farm!
