Looking for an assistant trainer to join a boutique hunter/jumper show program and USHJA certified Riding Academy at a beautiful family-owned facility in Northern Nevada.
The ideal candidate would have 1+ years experience working in a hunter/jumper program. Ideal candidates have teaching experience or are competent riders with a desire to learn to teach- head trainer is happy to mentor young pros with a good work ethic. A positive attitude and ability to work both independently and with a team are key qualities we are looking for.
The job is riding and teaching focused. Candidates should have solid flatwork skills and be capable of jumping horses up to the 2'6 level. Lots of daily opportunities to ride and school horses with the head trainer if desired. Head trainer both rides and teaches, so the position can be more riding or teaching focused depending on the candidate's abilities/preferences. Basic barn management tasks are a thing, but no stalls or turnouts etc.
At this time, this is primarily an at-home position, and candidates should be comfortable working independently under the (remote) guidance of the head trainer when they are away at horse shows. Opportunities are available to show locally if desired- we host several USHJA outreach shows each year and attend local shows in addition to our rated show schedule. Potential to attend some rated horse shows as the program grows.
Temporary housing is available, and bringing a horse is an option.
